The Collapse of the Soviet Union: Lessons for America

The Collapse of the Soviet Union: Lessons for America.

I believe that America has not been in such great peril, as it is now, since our Civil War (1861-1865).

I further believe that a great many of our citizens have no idea of the gravity of America’s now rapidly escalating existential crisis.

You may recall the stunning news that the Soviet Union (The USSR) suddenly collapsed in August of 1991. It is critical to understand that the experts did not see the “last great revolution of the 20th Century” as unpredictable, as it was.

The experts still debate the causes of the sudden death of the Soviet Union, without identifying any specific cause. Instead they conclude it was a confluence of many factors whose synergistic effects produced the unpredictably sudden collapse of the Soviet Union.

The following article on this topic is most informative. I hope you will take the time to read it.

Everything You Think You Know About the Collapse of the Soviet Union Is Wrong

Some the interacting factors that correlated with the sudden Collapse of the Soviet Union were:

  • It was at the height of its power and extended influence in the world.
  • It had significant, but experts thought, “manageable” budget deficits.
  • It was experiencing inflation.
  • It had a protracted war with Afghanistan.
  • It expended much wealth, materials and human energy to influence other states in the world.
  • It was in a “Cold War” with America.
  • It was experiencing pressures from liberalizing forces from within.
  • Dissidents were clamoring for more freedom and dignity for the population.

Perhaps you can see some reasons for concern about the dynamics of stability (i.e., the viability) of the United States of America at this time in our history.

The following is a quote from the article above: “DELVING INTO THE causes of the French Revolution, de Tocqueville famously noted that regimes overthrown in revolutions tend to be less repressive than the ones preceding them.”

America provides greater freedoms to its citizens than any other nation on earth. The radical liberalizing forces in America clamoring for more, more and more freedom and “dignity” have failed to understand that too much freedom for a society-to- survive is best called chaos!

Sociocultural chaos is hell on earth, that tends to lead to more hell on earth.
