    I’d Rather Laugh Than Cry!

    December 4, 2009

    I’d Rather Laugh Than Cry!

Some people laugh all of the time, no matter how much pain they are in. This can be their way to self-medicate for stress, face a seemingly hopeless future, and still cope with the demands of the day.

If overused, humor and laughter are self-defeating psychological defense mechanisms that interfere with a felt need to change and the use of effective coping strategies.

If used just in just the right amounts now and then—for temporary relief from difficult times— humor and laughter can be very good things.

This explains my occasional resort to cartoons to express my thoughts and emotions.

I admire the artists whose work I showcase. They are uniquely talented and creative people with a message that I endorse.
