Nuking Japan: No Apology! (Memorial Day 2016)
A large percentage of Americans are ignorant about WWII conditions that led to this, admittedly, horrific event.
I use the term, ignorant with humility, as I too remain ignorant about many things. But ignorance about one’s own cultural heritage can be lethal to one’s own culture! It is imperative to prevent such areas of ignorance through proper education.
Of course, ignorance about one’s culture can be remediated, but this is a hit-or-miss inefficient strategy. In this critically important matter, we have failed miserably. Early prevention of culturally self-destructive ignorance such is an essential policy!
Sadly, for them most part, remediation is the intent of this blog.
With Obama’s recent visit to Japan, comes a flood of regret, shame and condemnation over America’s decision to deployed nuclear weapons against Japan in order to end WWII.
I believe that the vast majority of those, who now ignorantly condemn America’s Greatest Generation for this act, would think differently if they understood the facts that led to this decision.
If you know people who are ignorant about the war-time imperatives that led to America’s nuclear attack Japan, I dearly hope you will send them this article.
